Vintage Carpano Bicchiere Poster

In this 1960 poster, Armando Testa weaves this historic credential into a design for Punt e Mes that is at once deeply rooted in tradition and thrillingly modern in its graphic language.

Carpano's royal warrant dates to the earliest years of the brand, when Antonio Benedetto Carpano's vermouth caught the attention of the House of Savoy. The Re Dal 1786 designation was a mark of approval that Carpano wore with quiet pride for nearly two centuries. Testa's brilliance lay in finding a graphic form for this heritage that felt neither stuffy nor antiquated — he made history look cool, which is perhaps the greatest achievement in luxury branding.


Punt e Mes — Carpano's Crown Jewel


Punt e Mes, Carpano's signature bitter vermouth, was by 1960 one of the most recognised aperitivo brands in Italy and increasingly abroad. Its distinctive balance of sweetness and bitterness — that famous "point and a half" — made it a favourite with bartenders and drinkers who wanted something more complex and characterful than a straight sweet vermouth. Testa's poster series for Punt e Mes played a significant role in cementing this identity.
