Born in Trieste in 1878, Marcello Dudovich became the defining visual chronicler of the Italian feminine ideal in the early 20th century. Working for the most prestigious Italian brands — Campari, Strega, Assicurazioni Generali, Pirelli, La Rinascente — his posters combined bold graphic clarity with a deep understanding of fashion, elegance, and the modern woman's self-image. His process was distinctive: he photographed real women from the social world he moved in — including his wife Elisa and daughter Adriana — and then distilled these photographs into poster form, stripping away the superfluous to arrive at the pure, recognisable essence of a figure. The result was imagery of extraordinary immediacy and glamour.
