Leonetto Cappiello — The Father of Modern Advertising


Leonetto Cappiello (1875–1942) was born in Livorno and trained as a caricaturist before relocating to Paris, where he transformed the art of the advertising poster. Where his predecessors cluttered their designs with text and complexity, Cappiello stripped everything back to a single unforgettable image isolated against a flat, saturated background — a revolution in commercial art whose influence is still felt today. His posters for Campari, Bouillon Kub, Chocolat Klaus, and dozens of other brands set a standard that defined the medium for generations.


Birra Wuhrer — A Brescia Institution


Founded in 1829 by the Austrian entrepreneur Peter Wuhrer, the Birra Wuhrer brewery in Brescia became one of the most important brewing operations in northern Italy, its lager-style beers reflecting the central European traditions of its founder while adapting to the tastes of the Italian market. By 1923, Wuhrer was a well-established brand with a loyal following across Lombardy — a client entirely worthy of the finest commercial artist in Europe.
