Vintage Household Advert Miror Polish Poster Marcello Dudovich 1920 - 40

This elegant advertising poster by Marcello Dudovich was created for Miror, a furniture and shoe polish brand — a domestic product elevated into something quietly beautiful by the hand of one of Italy's greatest commercial artists.

Marcello Dudovich (1878–1962) brought his characteristic refinement to every commission, however modest the subject. His ability to invest everyday domestic products with a sense of style and aspiration was one of the qualities that made him so sought after by Italian and international brands throughout his long career. A polish poster in lesser hands would be purely functional; in Dudovich's, it becomes a small window into the elegance of Italian domestic life between the wars.

Miror was a well-known household brand across Europe in the early-to-mid 20th century, its polish products a staple of the well-kept home. The interwar years saw domestic advertising reach new heights of visual ambition, as brands competed to present their products as part of a modern, aspirational lifestyle — and Dudovich's work for Miror is a fine example of that ambition realised.
