Vintage Fashion Shoes Poster, Pirelli Heels Alberto Bianchi
Vintage Fashion Shoes Poster, Pirelli Heels Alberto Bianchi, c.1910-25

This elegant advertising poster by Alberto Bianchi was created for Pirelli heels — the rubber heel components produced by the great Milanese company that, by the early decades of the 20th century, had extended its rubber manufacturing expertise far beyond tyres into a wide range of consumer and industrial products.

Alberto Bianchi was a prolific Italian commercial artist whose fashion and lifestyle advertising work of the 1910s and 1920s captured the changing character of Italian style across that transformative period — from the lingering elegance of the Belle Époque through to the sharper, more modern fashions of the early 1920s.

Pirelli's rubber heels were a genuine innovation in footwear comfort and durability, and their advertising sought to position them as an essential element of modern, well-dressed Italian life. This poster is a charming example of how the functional — a rubber heel — could be made aspirational through the art of the period's finest commercial illustrators.
